Do veneers damage your teeth?
Not necessarily. A correctly indicated veneer can be conservative. The irreversible element is any tooth structure removed, which is why SAIZ prioritises no-prep when clinically appropriate and minimal preparation when necessary.
When does a tooth need preparation for a veneer?
Only when the design needs space, contour correction, colour management or prevention of excess volume. Preparation should be limited to what is clinically necessary.
Is a veneer the same as a crown?
No. A veneer mainly covers the visible surface of a tooth and generally involves less intervention. A crown covers much more of the tooth and has different restorative indications.

Your gums and bite are part of the design
The restoration must work with the surrounding tissues and function. Cleaning, gum health and loading are assessed alongside appearance.

What is worth knowing before you decide.
Are all veneers no-prep?
No. The amount of preparation is assessed individually.
Are veneers the right choice for a whiter smile?
Not necessarily. Whitening may be sufficient when colour is the main concern. An assessment helps distinguish between the options.
Dental veneers, porcelain veneers and ceramic veneers
Dental veneers are restorations bonded to the visible surface of a tooth. Porcelain and ceramic are terms used when comparing materials. Suitability depends on teeth, gums, bite and your goals. SAIZ explains the proposed material and tooth preparation before a decision is made.
Natural-looking dental veneers: shape, shade and proportion
A natural-looking result is planned around your face, lips and existing teeth. Shade is not chosen by a rule of maximum whiteness: brightness, translucency, texture and proportions matter. A mock-up helps discuss shape and volume, but does not reproduce the exact shade of the final ceramic.
Lithium disilicate veneers: what to ask
The current SAIZ protocol uses layered, hand-finished lithium disilicate. The material name alone does not define the result or mean every restoration is monolithic. Ask about design, fabrication, tooth preparation and documentation of the materials used for your treatment.
Veneers for gaps between teeth: when are they an option?
Veneers may close selected gaps, but their cause, your bite and the resulting tooth proportions need assessment first. If closure would make teeth too wide or tooth position is the main problem, orthodontics or another option may be appropriate. Examination and a mock-up help inform the decision.
