SAIZ · BEFORE DECIDING
1. Do I really need veneers?

Not every aesthetic concern requires veneers. The assessment should consider whether whitening, orthodontics, periodontal care, a small restoration or no treatment would address your goals more conservatively.

2. How do I know how many veneers I need?

There is no standard number. The clinician assesses which teeth show when speaking and smiling, proportions, colour, smile width and the relationship between treated and natural teeth. Each included tooth should have a reason.

3. One clinic proposes ten veneers and another twenty. How do I compare?

Ask what each included tooth contributes to the plan and what would happen if it were left intact. Compare the clinical and aesthetic reasons, not only the number of veneers or the total price.

4. How do I know whether my teeth need preparation?

This depends on position, volume, colour, enamel, gums, bite and the intended change. Ask why each tooth needs preparation, what structure would be altered and what the limitations of leaving it unprepared would be.

5. Which part of treatment is irreversible?

Tooth structure that is removed does not grow back. Any preparation should therefore be explained beforehand and limited to what is necessary.

6. What happens if I do not like the mock-up?

The mock-up helps you discuss length, volume and proportions before treatment is completed. Ask what can be changed after trying it and which clinical steps will already have taken place by then.

7. How can I judge whether veneers will look natural?

Naturalness depends on proportions, volume, texture, translucency, incisal edges, gums and the relationship with the face. Whiter colour or a thinner veneer alone does not guarantee a natural appearance.

8. How should I compare two veneer quotations?

Compare the number of teeth and why they are included, planned preparation, material, treatment stages, additional care and follow-up. Two quotations for the same number of teeth can represent different treatments.

9. How much could veneer treatment cost?

The SAIZ published reference is €725 per ceramic veneer. Eight amount to €5,800, ten to €7,250 and twenty to €14,500. These are arithmetic examples, not a recommended number of veneers or a complete quotation. The teeth and any additional stages are determined after diagnosis.

10. When might a second opinion be helpful?

It may help when there are substantial differences about treating healthy teeth, the number of veneers, preparation, prior orthodontics or an irreversible decision you do not fully understand.

11. What should be documented after treatment?

Relevant clinical records, photographs, scans where appropriate, the teeth treated, materials and information needed for maintenance or future procedures should be retained.

12. How can I tell whether I have enough information to decide?

Before accepting, you should be able to explain the problem being treated, alternatives, what will happen to each tooth, what is irreversible and the complete cost. If you cannot yet do so, ask for more information.

Dental veneers: benefits, limitations and risks.

Sensitivity, fractures or debonding can occur. Enamel removal is irreversible. Individual risks and possible repairs should be explained before deciding. Decay and gum disease need attention before veneers are placed; bite and clenching can affect suitability.

Reviews and daily hygiene remain part of care. Contact the clinic if a restoration moves, breaks or your bite feels uncomfortable. Keep any detached veneer safe and do not glue it yourself. Photographs do not replace an examination or guarantee an individual result.
